Edge Business Magazine just posted a worthwhile blog on the use of Music On Hold / Messages On Hold. An Excerpt:
A few business owners have said to me, “Oh, we don’t put callers on hold. We wouldn’t need anything like that.” If those leaders spent more time near the front desk, they might be surprised to learn just how often callers are asked to wait.
My comment is that often the “IT guy” is appointed to handle messaging on hold. Actually, it is a marketing tool that should be handled by the marketing department or someone who is familiar with the company and able to articulate key points. Easy On Hold does the scripting for you, aimed at reinforcing your current marketing efforts, which works best when coordinated with marketing personnel. Sometimes this can be the owner, an officer or the person who handles PR.
