Easy On Hold® for Avaya Communication Manager

Bring cloud-managed music and messages to a legacy on-premises Avaya system using the Easy On Hold business audio player.

Quick Setup Guide
A streaming bridge for legacy Avaya Communication Manager systems.

Avaya Communication Manager Streaming MOH Setup and Resources

Legacy Avaya Communication Manager does not need to connect directly to an internet audio stream. Instead, the Easy On Hold® two-channel business audio player receives the managed stream from the cloud and converts it into a continuous analog audio output for the Avaya music-on-hold input.

This approach combines the reliability of an external MOH source with the flexibility of cloud content management. Authorized users can update music and messages in the Easy On Hold Content Control Center™ without repeatedly loading files into Communication Manager. The player also supports onboard or USB fallback content if network access is interrupted.

Communication Manager can alternatively use an integrated announcement as a music source. That file-based approach may be appropriate for static audio, but each content change requires a properly encoded file to be uploaded and reassigned through the Avaya environment.

How the Avaya Communication Manager Streaming Solution Works

01

Provision the Managed Stream

Easy On Hold configures the audio player to receive your licensed music and scheduled messages over a secure outbound network connection. Stream content remains manageable through the Easy On Hold customer portal.

02

Connect the Analog Audio Output

Connect one player output to the Avaya analog or auxiliary MOH interface selected by your Avaya administrator. The connection may require an appropriate isolation transformer or interface that matches the PBX input; many legacy MOH connections use a 600-ohm interface.

03

Administer the Communication Manager Source

For system-level MOH, use change system-parameters features, set Music/Tone On Hold to music, and select the correct source type and identifier. Systems using Tenant Partitioning use change music-sources and assign the desired source to the applicable tenant.

04

Enable, Test and Monitor

Set Hear System Music on Hold to y in the appropriate Class of Restriction. Place test calls through the actual hold and transfer paths, adjust the player output level, and confirm clear audio without clipping, hum or distortion.

Avaya Communication Manager Music On Hold FAQs

Common questions about bringing managed streaming audio to a legacy Avaya CM system.

No. Avaya AAMS can ingest supported HTTP streams directly. This legacy Communication Manager solution uses an Easy On Hold audio player to receive the cloud stream and deliver analog audio to the Avaya MOH interface.

The player continuously receives Easy On Hold audio from the internet, then presents it as line-level analog audio to Communication Manager. Avaya treats that connection as its external music source while the content remains remotely managed in the cloud.

Yes. An integrated announcement can be assigned as a music source. The required encoding depends on the Avaya announcement platform and administration method.

Current Avaya Admin Portal guidance specifies WAV files up to 10 MB encoded as 16-bit, 8 kHz, single-channel PCM. Older VAL workflows may use telephony µ-law or A-law WAV. Confirm the correct specification for your deployment before uploading.

Communication Manager controls whether local users hear system MOH through Class of Restriction. Set Hear System Music on Hold to y in the appropriate COR. One administered source can serve multiple users; tenant-partitioned systems can assign different sources to different tenants.

The Easy On Hold business audio player can switch to onboard or USB content while connectivity is unavailable, then reconnect to the managed stream when service returns.
