Fresh Natterbox Hold Music Without Repeated Audio Uploads

Natterbox is a cloud communications platform for business calls and contact centers. For Natterbox music on hold, its administrator settings and call queue routing policies can use a custom Shoutcast stream. Easy On Hold® provides a managed source of licensed music and messages for that connection.

With a live stream, your team can change music, turn messages on or off and schedule announcements in the Easy On Hold Content Control Center™. Once your administrator has connected and tested the stream, routine content changes do not require another hold music file upload or a new stream URL.

Use separate streams when different queues or caller groups need distinct programming. Easy On Hold can help plan the content and test playback with your Natterbox administrator.

What you get:

  • Licensed music and custom messages managed through Easy On Hold.
  • Scheduling and immediate message control from the Content Control Center™.
  • Separate programming options for queues with different audiences or needs.
  • A stable stream address for routine content changes.

How Streaming Hold Music Works in Natterbox

01

Plan Your Caller Experience

Choose music, recorded messages and schedules for hold and queue waiting. Easy On Hold prepares the managed stream and provides the address for your configuration.

02

Set Account Hold Music

In Natterbox Account Settings, an administrator can edit Hold Music, select Shoutcast and enter the stream address in the shout:// format specified by Natterbox. Save the setting and test a held call.

03

Assign Music to a Call Queue

For a queue, find its call queue app under Routing Policies. On the Properties tab, select Custom for Hold Music and enter the Shoutcast link. Test the queue and agent hold paths you intend to use.

04

Keep Messages Current

Manage music and announcement schedules through the Easy On Hold portal. When content changes, the stream updates without replacing the configured address in Natterbox.

What About Uploaded Announcements?

Natterbox also accepts WAV sound files for routing policy prompts and call queue announcements. This is a separate workflow from streaming hold music. Its documentation specifies 16-bit, 16 kHz, mono WAV files no larger than 5 MB for uploaded sounds. Easy On Hold can prepare these files when an announcement needs to be uploaded rather than streamed.

Music Licensing for Your Natterbox Stream

A Shoutcast link delivers audio; it does not supply the rights to play music to callers. For subscribed services, Easy On Hold handles the applicable licensing for the music it supplies. Natterbox describes external Shoutcast providers as third parties and notes that it does not provide implementation support or investigations for third-party Shoutcast solutions. Easy On Hold can assist with the stream and initial playback testing alongside your Natterbox administrator.
