Instructions for how to set up custom music on hold on V-Tech Phones

NOTE: You cannot make any changes to the settings of M.O.H. source while a call is currently on hold. The screen displays M.O.H. currently in use. Please try again later.

The V-Tech CM18445/AM18447 Main Console has an input jack for Music On Hold (MOH). To play the music and messages streaming on your Easy On Hold® 2-Channel Business Audio System audio player device, connect the audio cable from the audio device to the phone MOH jack.

You must program the V-Tech Phone to use the external audio device as the source of audio callers will hear while holding.

Review and select music on hold source:

  1. When the console is idle, press MENU/SELECT.
  2. Press or to scroll to Music on hold. Press MENU/SELECT or /SKIP.
  3. Press or to scroll to M.O.H. source, then press MENU/SELECT or /SKIP.
  4. The default music or tone plays while you press or to highlight a music on hold source.
  5. Press MENU/SELECT or /SKIP to select a highlighted M.O.H. source and return to the previous menu.

If you select Aux in device but no audio device is connected to the MUSIC ON HOLD jack, the screendisplays No device is connected to the M.O.H. jack at console. Connect an audio device to the MUSIC ON HOLD jack then choose Aux in device again.

Test the volume

Only the source device can affect volume changes callers hear while holding. Place a call to the V-Tech phone in use and listen while holding. Turn the volume knob on the audio device to set an acceptable volume level. Set the volume level at or below that of the speaking volume during a call.

What's different about 2-to-4-line phones?

If you purchased your phones in an office supply store or appliance store, they likely are not able to use music on hold. There is no place for the audio to plug in to the phone and there's no "brain" in the phone to tell it when to play music on hold. These phones use a "plain ol' phone line" or land-line and can handle either 1, 2 or 4 lines. Panasonic, RCA, AT&T.
