Easy On Hold Collaborates with Microsoft to Introduce First Live Streaming Hold Music Integration for Microsoft Teams Phone

Easy On Hold, a Microsoft partner, has created a streaming hold music service for Microsoft Teams Phone customers. This groundbreaking solution is not only the first solution of its kind to integrate with Teams Phone but also comes with licensed music for global use, ensuring compliance and enhancing caller engagement worldwide.

Streaming hold music helps Teams Phone admins solve common issues

Easy On Hold developed the live streaming integration to overcome the challenges of using static music audio files, such as size restrictions on music on hold file uploads, music licensing issues, the repetitive loop of audio files, files that start from the beginning on every call, and lack of variety in the free default on hold music available to users.

“Unlike audio files, the Easy On Hold stream is live and dynamic, so the listener never encounters any repetition,” says Julie Brown, Easy On Hold President and CEO. “And when personalized voice recordings and messages are introduced as an upgrade, the customer experience becomes even more robust, with the ability for   Teams administrators to schedule content to play at certain times on a custom schedule while customers wait on hold.”

How to Set Up Easy On Hold Streaming Hold Music For Microsoft Teams Phone

Once you subscribe to Easy On Hold using our admin tool, you’ll receive a URL for the streaming source. Use that to configure your Teams call hold policy with PowerShell.

Instructions can be found at Music on Hold – Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn.

Easy On Hold, (the streaming partner) gives you a URL to add to your TeamsCallingPolicy, which is then used to play music.

Once you set up the streaming content with Easy On Hold, you are provided with a URL for the streaming source, which you can use to configure your Teams Call Hold Policy. Streaming Music on Hold can only be configured with PowerShell.

To configure streaming Music on Hold, use the PowerShell cmdlets New/Get/Set/Grant/Remove-CsTeamsCallingPolicy and New/Get/Set/Grant/Remove-CsTeamsCallHoldPolicy.

  1. Ensure that the Teams user has -MusicOnHoldEnabledType set to Enabled in the Teams calling policy.
  2. Configure the streaming content using your subscription and get the streaming source URL.
  3. Create a Teams call hold policy referencing the streaming source URL and assign it to the Teams user.

Reference the streaming source URL in a Teams call hold policy

After you receive the streaming source URL, you must reference the URL in a Teams Call Hold Policy.

For example, the following script creates a new TeamsCallHoldPolicy and references the streaming source URL:

PowerShellCopy

C:\> New-CsTeamsCallHoldPolicy -Identity 'StreamingMoH1' -StreamingSourceUrl 'https://teams-streaming.easyonholdcloud.com/08297e2a-61bf-480c-b7b4-0576fc3ca6ce' -StreamingSourceAuthType AzureAd

After you create the new Teams Call Hold Policy, you can grant it to your users using Grant-CsTeamsCallHoldPolicy with the following script:

PowerShellCopy

C:\> Grant-CsTeamsCallHoldPolicy -PolicyName "StreamingMoH1" -Identity user2@contoso.com
